JEFF KOONS

Love him or hate him, Jeff Koons will be the focus of the largest survey of his work ever exhibited, this summer at the Whitney in NY. I happen to love the fetishistic quality of his work. I saw his work in the 80's when I was a little kid and had no idea what it meant but was always very drawn to it. It was not until high school and college that I began to understand the statements he was making with his pieces, and from that point on became even more appreciative of it. I was living in NYC at the time that the balloon dog pieces and "inflatables" series were coming out of his studio. I wandered over to Sonnabend for the show and was blown away by the large scale paintings, that are executed with surgical precision. Throughout the years I have seen his work exhibited in various locations and this culmination in one place is going to be fantastic.
